The sand that is used for the handle of this knife comes from a tumultuous river called “La Selves” that rises from the Aubrac Plateau and traverses the village of Laguiole.

Just like the surrounding landscape and local town, “La Selves” river has a strong character, accentuated by its abundant flow and the cold and pure water. Since the very beginning of French knifemaking, the smiths and cutlers of Laguiole have used the river for their work. They used to temper the blades in this water to give them their famous strength.

The sand of this river is a mix of grey and brown colors. The overall tone of the knife is more subdued than its wood or horn counterparts. The blade and forged stainless steel bolsters have a matte finish.

This new product is the perfect association of innovation and tradition thanks to its handle made from sand stabilized with natural resin. This patented process has been established in collaboration with Murs du Monde, an innovator in the world of cutlery.

Each knife is made in France, on the Aubrac plateau in the Aveyron region.
