The Musha Hand-Forged “Tatsu-maki” (Dragon Roll) Katana has a tsuba depicting a traditional Japanese dragon wrapping around the katana with a matching kashira and fuchi. The dragon is one of the four divine beasts from Japanese mythology, and it is known to rule the seas. It is known to summon fierce storms by its howls and transforms into a ravaging tornado called “Tatsu-maki”. Tatsu in Japanese Kanji means “Dragon” and Maki means “Roll”. This dragon is frequently known to be the emblem of the hero or the emperor. The 1045 high carbon steel blade features Bo-Hi, which is commonly called a blood groove but is a misconception. It has nothing to do with channeling the blood but actually helps to reduce the overall weight of the katana. It was hand-forged with the Maru-Kitae process. The wooden handle has been expertly wrapped in black, cotton cord over white rayskin with black menuki. All Musha swords can be fully disassembled and reassembled.
