Pimp My Pistol

Posted by Memphis on 12th Dec 2018

Often you'll buy a gun that doesn't live up to the hype. Everything underperforms and you feel disappointed.

Other times you get a gun that's great right out of the box. With no alterations needed it feels good, performs well

and gives you the rush that you were looking for...

But, a feeling nags at you that it could be better. That with a little fine tuning this weapon could become a true pleasure to use. That's how I felt about my Tokyo Marui 5.1 Hi-Capa. Good, but it could be better. Enter Hero Outdoors.

I took a trip to our friendly neighborhood airsoft suppliers with my weapon and spoke to their in house technician "The Witch Doctor".

I was expecting to drop my gun off for some basic fine tuning and adjustment. But after a short seminar by the Doctor my eyes were opened to all the possible upgrades and new parts available for the Hi-capa series and I knew what I had to do.

First things first. I had to have the doctor tune up the trigger pull. He pulled my weapon apart, adjusted some springs and put it back together again. He also increased the resistance on the ambidextrous safety.

As for the hardware upgrades. A new Inner barrel from Nine-Ball and a new Aluminum slide from Airsoft Masterpiece added a very comfortable heft to my weapon.

The finished product is something special. It's got a reassuring weight with new handle scales that fill my hand perfectly. The doctor undercut the trigger guard for me to allow a slightly higher and tighter grip. Coupled with the adjusted trigger pull and the slack is almost gone. Shooting is so much more fun now with the quicker reset and more realistic gas blowback I can empty a magazine without even realizing it.

It was definitely worth the extra time and effort to pimp my pistol. Another great build courtesy of Witch Doctor tactical. But the gun is so nice now, I almost don't want to play with it
