The Golden Age of Piracy around the time of the reign of Queen Anne has fascinated generations of historic enthusiasts. Legendary pirates like "Black Bart" Roberts, William Kidd, Edward "Blackbeard" Teach and Anne Bonny all sailed the seas during the first two decades of the 18th Century. Signature to look of these pirates was the wearing of numerous pistols of various sizes both on belts and in holsters. More reasonably-sized pistols was really a mini-revolution in weapons technology at the time, and was embraced by any one place in close quarter combat like privateers, buccaneers or other sailors. Undoubtedly this pistol also so extensive use on land by officers and cavalry troops in the battles of the War of the Spanish Succession or Marlborough wars.

This reproduction is 13 inches long with a 7 1/2 inch, 50 caliber barrel done in the style of many turned barrels of the time. The highly-polished steel used in the barrel is made of tempered seamless modern steel (type:BS970 no.080M40) with a tight breech plug.

The lock is made with strong durable springs and has a case-hardened frizzen (hammer) that throws good sparks. We use a industrial case-hardening factory process that makes sparking both more reliable and longer lasting. Presently no other musket provider uses this technique.
