The first Norman King of England, Duke William II of Normandy would begin his conquest and occupation of England by winning the Battle of Hastings and killing King Harold in 1066AD. This was a major turning point in British history. As legend goes, upon landing on the shores of England for the first time William fell flat on his face. Upon rising, he turned and said, “I have already grasped my Kingdom.” After a hard fought campaign and years of rebellions and uprisings England was now under Norman rule and William would be known through history as William “The Conqueror”.

This magnificent sword represents the epitome of this heroic man. The long, wide fuller down the hand forged high carbon steel blade lightens the weight, making it a faster formidable weapon. The straight hilt of this sword has been inscribed “Jam Accepisse Regnum” in Latin to tribute his legendary landing quote. The sturdy wooden grip has been covered in a deep, blood red leather and has been wound with a braided silver wire. Accompanying this fine blade is a wooden scabbard, covered in a brown leather and embossed with the cross of the Conqueror. A matching blood red belt with period ties is attached. The Brazil-nut shaped pommel has been inset with the battle cross of William, as well as the blade’s fuller.
