Ramcke's Fallschirmjager Brigade was sent to reinforce Rommel and was
immediately placed as the southern anchor of the defensive line against
Montgomery and the British. When Montgomery smashed through the
northern part of the line the Brigade was left on it's own to get back
as no transport was available. They captured a British supply column
and eventually made their way back to Rommel in a miracle story.
