Eyes on the Prize

Posted by Memphis on 28th Nov 2018

The first time I heard the words red dot sight I was playing Counter Strike 1.5. I was introduced to ACOGs with Call of Duty, but I had already learned about iron sights from Medal of Honor. Oh how little I knew back then

Fast forward to the present. It's an outdoor urban CQB game. The pace is frantic as we're running from cover to cover, seeing silhouettes in ever shadow. But we find a seemingly safe path towards the nearest building. After a quick gear check at the entrance to the building we elect a designated door-kicker and as usual it's me, probably because I'm a wide dude who provides some decent cover

Heavy Magnum boots are my best friend here as I take a deep breath, chamber my leg, and push kick the door open, bringing up my weapon to bear. I peer through my AIM 1.5-4x30 CQB Scope with both eyes open, thankful for the few inches of clearance from the optic that let me keep my peripheral vision. Set to 1.5x Zoom, I sweep my gaze from side to side as I move through the room.

As the team splits up I and a few others take the stairs upward, encountering no resistance and hearing none from our comrades below, we post up in the shadows of the third floor, waiting for the other two teams to exhaust themselves battling each other. I flip my scope up to follow the action, watching them expend grenades, respawns and players while we waited in the darkest corner with the best view.

Eventually the remaining victors headed towards our building, With my AIM scope set to 3x Zoom I start tracking them with my trusty red-dot and as soon as they get within 200 ft I unleash a barrage. Quick-Controlled bursts wreak havoc on the enemies and with the crystal clear resolution of my multi - coated lens, I can see every near miss, every hit, every grimace of pain, and I love it!

A few enemies make it past our assault and into the building. Our team quickly splits up and takes the two stairwells down to engage the last few hostiles. As I enter the second floor I flip the scope back to 1.5x and start sweeping rooms. As I move through a hallway out of the corner of my left eye I spy a movement in the shadows and pivot to that side, seamlessly training the green tinted reticle on a person shaped shadow. My heart's pounding as I squeeze the trigger and light up some poor fool 4 feet away and a stupid smile erupts across my face under my mask.

Needless to say we won that round, thanks to terrain, strategy, and the superior optics of my

I can't wait to see what they come out with next
