George Puller USMC MG Gunner George is a member of the 1st USMC regiment as it was deployed in the Pacific War in 1945. One of the bloodiest battles of this war was Iwo Jima. On Monday, February 19, 1945, 70,000 U.S. troops landed. Marines on the beach at Iwo Jima for Operation Detachment; to start. In a murderous battle that lasted 36 days, they defeated the 22,000 Japanese. George represents one of the soldiers who fought on what is probably the most famous battlefield of the Pacific War. 92,000 soldiers on just 20 square kilometers around a volcanic island off Japan.
