In East Germany first it was issued with a simple "Blumentarnmuster" bag (similar to the Soviet Type A bag) alongside with SchM-41-M and MM-1. Then a simpler bag without camoflage and a waterproof ruberized bag was issued, to scouts a "Strichtarn" bag was issued. The ShMS uses the standard Russian 40mm GOST thread design to attach a filter or hose, and was issued with a standard EO-16 "coffee can" filter.
