Only One Available. Genuine Korean War Era U.S. Army M4 Carbine bayonet fighting knife with original M8A1 scabbard. Nicely marked U.S. M4 / CONETTA on the blade side of the cross guard. This was manufactured by Conetta Manufacturing Company of Stamford, Conn., who produced bayonets for the M14 and M16 rifles as well.

Very good condition clean blade with original phosphate finish.  Grips are the Korean War era black phenolic type, and they are in excellent condition, with no cracks or chips, just a bit of wear from the scabbard strap.

Comes with an OD green fiber scabbard marked U.S. M8A1 PWH also in very good condition. This design features a fiberglass body, metal throat, and canvas frog and securing strap .  It was manufactured by Pennsylvania Working Home for the blind. The canvas is in great shape, as are the metal fittings and snap though there is wear to the finish on the brass.

The perfect accessory for any Korean War issue M1 Carbine.

The M8/M8A1 scabbard would serve in the U.S. military for many years carrying the M3 trench knife and the M4, M5/M5A1, M6, and M7 bayonets used with the M1 Carbine, M1 Garand, M14, and M16 respectively. Many U.S.-produced M8/M8A1 scabbards were sent around the world as part of military aid packages during the Cold War. Others were produced in foreign countries for their own military use. Recognizing the details described in this article will help the collector know the “time and place” their scabbard carried a soldier’s knife or bayonet.
